Series: The Main thing - session 2 Feb 26

Our second session in the 'Main thing series' was delivered by Ps Gaynor. Gaynor started us off with a definition of evangelism, as there is much diversity in thought when it comes to this subject! Evangelism is sharing glad tidings or good news! We can all do that can't we?
Q. what are some of the different definitions and or concepts of evangelism you have heard?

2 Corinthians 5 14-21 talks about being ministers of reconciliation
Q.How might this practically play out in your relationships outside the church?

Revision from last week: Dale spoke about 'joining the conversation' have you had a chance to have any God conversations with unsaved people so far?

1 Peter 3:8-18 guides us in this area. Being ready to speak about the hope that is in us (read this with the group, perhaps explore this in a few different translations)
Q. How does this change the way we communicate the Gospel?

Hope is a precious commodity. Discuss in the group how and what your hope rests on.

Colossians 4:5-6 'making the most of every opportunity' remember that God has opportunities all around us but they are often disguised as inconvieniences. That precious soul God's brings across your path may be a divine moment to share the 'good news' and 'glad tidings' with them.
Q. Have you had a divine appointment latley?

Gaynor spoke about knowing about God vs knowing Him relationally; this is the best wittness! telling someone else about a special person you know.

Here is a guideline and 3 questions we all can use to write out our testimony:
1. What characterised your life before you put your hope in God?
2. How did you come to put your hope in Christ?
3. What is the difference he has made to your life?

It might be good to write this out and practice it, then you can share this as you have opportunity in a natural way.

Gaynor, (one of the most gentle creatures on the planet) reminds us not to be concerned if we experience a reaction to truth. These conversations are actually good for us as they expose others to the good news and consolidate the truth of it in our own lives! Remember people often react out of their own insecurity so understanding this will help us to 'phrase' the truth in ways that will be acceptable to them "your going to Hell" or "Missing out on heaven" both convey the same truth.

Here I come! God has given us a command to go in Mark 16:15-16 perhaps read this with the group.

This is our co-mission (together, forever!) So let's go and be a minister in this "at all times & everywhere"

Hope you all have a great time in small group next week.
Ps Rhett
